Review & Giveaway| Dot Girl: First Periods, Ready or Not…Be Prepared

Right before the conclusion of 5th grade, I remember asking to be excused from class. I wasn’t really sure why, but my stomach felt…different. I went into the stall, did what I needed to do and as I finished up, there was a surprise. My first period. I immediately headed to the school office and told the secretary that I needed to call home. She asked what was the problem, so I walked closer to her and discreetly whispered, “My cycles here“. Her eyes got huge, and she asked, “Are you sure?”, and I was positive.

You see, the one thing that my mother fully prepared me for, was menstruation. I remember having conversations about it as early as 8 years old, during our visits together. The information was never too much, I was able to ask questions…and get answers. I had been carrying an extra pair of undergarments & a sanitary napkin for at least a year before I actually needed it. I really appreciate my mom giving that gift to me.

I in turn, have done the same for my daughter (one of them so far). She recently had a what I considered a prelude to “the big show”, a few weeks ago and was confident as can be. I’d like to attribute that to preparation.

I was recently given the opportunity to share the Dot Girl First Period Kit with Allie, and wanted to give you a peek of what’s inside.

Discreet & Attractive Pink Case

5 Pads
Disposable Bags (These can be used for disposing used sanitary products, but Allie said that hers will be used for “accidents”…if she ever has any.)
Wipes to clean hands in a hurry
A reusable warmer for soothing aches & cramps
It also includes a round booklet that conveniently fits right inside the case, for quick & easy reference.

I really like this kit! I have a feeling that my daughter’s “big show” is about to debut soon if her moodiness doesn’t make me want to kill her first (totally joking)! I wish I had one of these when I first started! Awesome idea!

I would most like the First Period Kit, for my 12YO daughter. But I have to say that the 100% Natural Good For You Girls Complete Skin Care Kit looks really cool…I was just looking for skin care products for her and age-appropriate stuff is hard to find in the midst of all the wrinkle cream! :)

This is actually quite handy. I could use a kit instead of having supplies stashed in my office drawers, car console, and purse just in case. Reminds me of my wedding day emergency kits.
