I found this new gadget through Harris Communications that enables a person to translate aprox. 3,500 words, pronouns, numbers and alphabets combined, into sign lanuage. I immediately thought of ordering this for my family…particularly my husband. Before doing so, I called the manufacturer Krown, to find out if it was also able to translate brief phrases…that would be perfect! That way hubby can quickly check what he wants to say, when we are hanging with our Deaf friends (aprox. 3 days/per week on average). Unfortunitely, it doesn’t translate phrases at this time (hopefully it will in the future).
Because my husband is not into books, like I am, but love gadgets this would be ideal for him. The fact that it’s portable is the icing on the cake. Here is a link that includes a YouTube video of the Portable Sign Language Translator in action.
This maybe a great idea for other tech geeks who:
- Work with the public
- Would like to begin learning a new language
- Have family or friends who are signers
So if you were a newbie signer or newly interested, would you buy it?
