The device that was featured is called a Lyric hearing aid.
The Lyric hearing aid is described as:
- Totally invisible.
- Allows for daily activities to take place without removal (even sleeping & showering).
- Eliminates frequent battery changes.
- Designed to closely minic the way we hear naturally.
So after seeing the results on the show, I went to the Lyric hearing aid website. As soon as I arrived there, I noticed an intro video. I apologize for not being able to tell you what it talked about, it was not captioned. At the end though, there was a link to click if you wanted to " hear more". Lyric, not judging but you may want to fix that, I'm just saying.
There are links throughout the site to tell you more about Lyric, and whether it may be a good choice for you. So out of curiosity, I took the Lyric Lifestyle Checklist survey. After that, I clicked the " Find a provider" link. The jury is still out on that one, because I repeatedly received a "sorry this page is unavailable" message. The error message may have been because there are no providers in the Baton Rouge area, or because of site overload do to Lyrics feature on Dr. Oz.
So the next thing I wanted to know, and in all honesty probably the first thing I wanted to know was "How much is it?" Believe me, after finding out my cochlear for one ear would be aprox. $80,000 (anyone has $80,000 I can hold on too?), I needed to know the price of the Lyric. According to the FAQ, you'd need to discuss the price and payment options with your provider (so I still don't have to answer).
I intend to complete this process of Lyric provider finding and consult. I'll be sure to let you know what I find. Could "The Diva" become a backup singer to Lyric? There will definitely be a part two, to this post.
Here's a link to the Dr. Oz piece, I apologize for it not being captioned, but you know I didn't make it so...here it is Click here.

An implant should be covered by insurance if you are a canidate. We paid exactly $0 for my daughter's. I know some people who have co-pays, but it doesn't cost thosands and thosands of dollars for anyone.
Wow! That's encouraging to know you guys were able to get the CI at no cost after insurance! I've just begun the process, and at my screening appointment (to see if I was a candidate) they only were able to tell me the aprox. cost $30,000 for the implant, $50,000 surgeon's fee. They were not able to give me an estimate of my out of pocket after insurance.
My next step is to have an other appt., with the surgeon. but because of where I am with my deductible, I have to pay $500 just for that appointment. I will be writing about my process. Thank you so much for sharing with me...very encouraging.
